Reduced shrinkage: As Silica Fume is able to reduce the amount of cement and the water-cement ratio, it reduces the shrinkage stress and micro-cracks generated during the hydration process of cement, thus reducing the drying shrinkage and natural shrinkage of concrete.

Reduction of alkali aggregate reaction: As silica fume is able to consume part of the alkali metal ions and form compounds with them that are not easily soluble or have a low solubility, it inhibits the alkali aggregate reaction (a chemical reaction that leads to cracking and failure of concrete).
Protecting the environment: Since silica fume is a by-product obtained after the treatment of industrial waste residues (e.g. thermal power plants, metallurgical plants, etc.), utilising it as an admixture can effectively save resources, reduce costs, and reduce pollution.
